Federated identity
GARR IDEM federated access
Some academic community services can recognise a UniMC identity through the GARR IDEM federation.
What federated access means
Federated access allows a participating service to delegate authentication to the user's home organisation. The service may then receive the attributes required to authorise the user, according to the agreed configuration.
A service appearing in the catalogue does not automatically mean that every profile is enabled. Availability and required attributes depend on current agreements and configuration.
How to access a federated resource
- Open the resource from the catalogue or the provider's official website.
- When asked, select University of Macerata as your home organisation.
- Continue to the institutional sign-in page and check its address.
- Read the information about shared attributes before confirming, when it is shown.
Data and permissions
The attributes released should be limited to what the service needs. Specific information about processing depends on the resource and must be checked in the provider's and University's privacy information.
Do not continue if the service, selected organisation or requested attributes are not what you expect.
If something goes wrong
Record the resource name, selected organisation, time and error message. Then follow the support channel identified on the service page, without sending passwords or one-time codes.
